At WUSD, we recognize that every content area requires language and communication to access and interact with the content. Effectively, all classroom teachers, regardless of subject taught, are language teachers. 

Wisconsin has adopted the WIDA English Development (ELD) Standards as the official state standards for EL instruction.  Correspondingly, WUSD utilizes the WIDA English Development (ELD) Standards to guide curriculum, instruction, and assessment with multilingual learners. Professional development for the inclusion and implementation of these standards is ongoing in the Whitewater Unified School District.
